Sacremento Politicians Beclown Themselves Again...

Now I realize that headline really isn't news.  Our low information, low IQ legislature beclowns itself on a near-daily basis.  But this beclowning is of a particularly delightful variety – the Democrats pulled a fast one on our budget (no news there), and it very well may be that by doing so, they permanently eliminate one of their beloved sources of “revenue”.  That would be a thing of beauty, that would!

For At Least the Past 23 Years...

The Center for Responsive Politics has been collecting data on the contributors to political campaigns for the past 23 years.  This is a political transparency initiative; their goal is to inform voters about the special interests that influence (or at least, try to influence) elections.

For all those years, the number one source of corporate money for the Democratic Party has been Goldman Sachs.  Until this year, that is.  This year, Goldman Sachs is contributing 3:1 for Mitt Romney.

Broadly speaking, other financial services firms have followed suit.  The Democratic Party has lost the hearts and minds of one of it's loudest – and richest – supporters.

Isn't it interesting that the Democratic Party has been the dominant recipient of the financial service industry's largesse over the years?  The Democrats love to bash Republicans for being in bed with the corporate fat cats, and yet the fattest cats of them all have actually been in bed with the Democrats all along.

Obama fixed that.  Nice!

New Symbol for the Democratic Party...

Via my lovely bride:
The Democratic Party today announced that it is changing its symbol from the Donkey to a Condom because it more accurately reflects the Party's political stance.

A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of dicks, and gives you a sense of security while you're actually being screwed.
Hmmm... Yes!

The Lawyer's Party...

Via reader Simi L., The Lawyer's Party in American Thinker, by Bruce Walker.  It's over four years old, but still perfectly applicable.  Here's the lead:
The Democratic Party has become the Lawyers' Party. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are lawyers. Bill Clinton and Michelle Obama are lawyers. John Edwards, the other former Democrat candidate for president, is a lawyer and so is his wife Elizabeth. Every Democrat nominee since 1984 went to law school (although Gore did not graduate.) Every Democrat vice presidential nominee since 1976, except for Lloyd Bentsen, went to law school. Look at the Democrat Party in Congress: the Majority Leader in each house is a lawyer.

The Republican Party is different. President Bush and Vice President Cheney were not lawyers, but businessmen. The leaders of the Republican Revolution were not lawyers. Newt Gingrich was a history professor; Tom Delay was an exterminator; and Dick Armey was an economist. House Minority Leader Boehner was a plastic manufacturer, not a lawyer. The former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist is a heart surgeon.

Who was the last Republican president who was a lawyer? Gerald Ford, who left office thirty-one years ago and who barely won the Republican nomination as a sitting president, running against Ronald Reagan in 1976. The Republican Party is made up of real people doing real work. The Democratic Party is made up of lawyers. Democrats mock and scorn men who create wealth, like Bush and Cheney, or who heal the sick like Frist, or who immerse themselves in history like Gingrich.

The Lawyers' Party sees these sorts of people, who provide goods and services that people want, as the enemies of America. And so we have seen the procession of official enemies in the eyes of the Lawyers' Party grow. Against whom do Hillary and Obama rail? Pharmaceutical companies, oil companies, hospitals, manufacturers, fast food restaurant chains, large retail businesses, bankers and anyone producing anything of value in our nation.

Democratic Party: a New Symbol...

Via my mom:
The Democratic Party today announced that it is changing its symbol from the donkey to a condom because it more accurately reflects the Party's political stance.

A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of dicks, and gives you a sense of security while you're actually being screwed!

Damn, it just doesn't get more accurate than that!

The Terrified Democratic Majority, Hard at Work...

The Democrats refused to take up the issue of the expiring G. W. Bush tax cuts before the election.  One consequence of their refusal is that the Treasury Department can't make the 2011 tax tables, because they don't know what the tax rates are going to be.

On the one hand, it seems politically unlikely that all of the G. W. Bush tax cuts will be allowed to expire, because that would mean extremely unpopular tax increases on most U.S. citizens right in the middle of the ongoing recession.  On the other hand, nobody can predict right now exactly how the G. W. Bush tax cuts might be extended (or modified, or even increased!).

So even if the Treasury Department tried to make a good guess (something, by the way, they've never had to do before), they'd almost certainly get it wrong.  By getting it wrong, millions of Americans will have either too much or too little tax withheld – bad news either way.

All of this is happening for exactly one reason: the Democrats didn't have the political balls to confront the issue before the election.  Obama, their leader, demonstrated nothing but squishiness on the issue.  One of the most important things we hired elected them to do is to deal with our nation's finances, and the sorry sacks of horse excrement can't bring themselves to do even this (mainly, one presumes, because it would entail admitting that their spending binges were going to have tax consequences).

The lesson to me is as clear as air I'm breathing: throw the bums out!  Bring in a new bunch, with a message ringing in their ears: do the work we hired elected you to do!!!

November 2 is coming soon to a polling place near you...

A Democratic Insider's View into the Sausage Factory...

My favorite tidbit:
I believe President Clinton provided some crucial insight when he said, "people would rather be with someone who is strong and wrong than weak and right." It's not that people are uninterested in who's right or wrong, it's that people will only follow leaders who seem to actually believe in what they are doing. Democrats have missed this essential fact.
Go read the whole thing, it's fascinating...
