UPDATED: Meteorite Over Russia...

Update: video of the meteorite crater, via reader and friend Doug S.:

Original post:

Early this morning (our time), a meteorite fell to Earth near Chelyabinsk, Russia:

News reports are conflicting, with some saying it's entirely a natural phenomenon and others saying the meteorite was struck by a defensive anti-missile missile.  I'm a little skeptical of the latter, based on nothing more than my personal observations about the general state of readiness of the Russian military (poor would be an upgrade).

Many Russians have dashboard cameras running all the time in their cars, and some of these captured interesting views of the phenomenon.  Also, as usual, surveillance cameras also caught some views.  Here are three compilations I found on YouTube:

The Doorbell...

Via my lovely bride.  This video won $2,000 in a contest sponsored by PowerLine blog back in August of 2011.  They chose it as the best short video dramatizing the federal debt crisis.  It's just as valid a warning today, given that the electorate last year decided four more years of BHO was what the doctor ordered...

The Centrifuge Brain Project...

I bring you the strange:

How to Be Happy While the World Goes to Hell...

Ran across this yesterday; listened to it this morning.  It's nearly an hour long, and is an interesting rant by a conservative.  I learned several things while listening.  Probably the most striking thing I heard was a conservative advising you to live in the now – don't bother saving for retirement, because the government is going to take it anyway.  Not the usual advice from a financial conservative :)

Some rude language (not very much, actually)...
