Al Gore Faked It...

The inimitable Anthony Watts has an incredibly detailed takedown of the experiment shown in Al Gore's video Climate 101.  The claim in the video is that the experiment is simple and high school level that anyone could replicate.

So Mr. Watts tried to replicate it, going way out of his way to run the experiment precisely as the video shows it.

And failed.

He concludes, quite reasonably, that Al Gore and Bill Nye (the science guy, who was also in the video) either never ran the experiment at all (it was all fake, just for show) or they ran it and failed, but used it anyway.  Either way: Al Gore faked it.

As Mr. Watts points out, carefully: this in no way invalidates Al Gore's claims about CO2.  It simply proves that Al Gore is a liar and a cheater.

But I guess we all suspected that anyway, didn't we?

Reality Bites, Doesn't It, Al?

This one (via my mom) had Debbie and I laughing this morning...

When you've lost Bono, Al, you've pretty much lost them all...

Friends in England told me that this past winter – one of the coldest and snowiest there in many years – Al Gore was in London giving a speech right when the peak snowfall struck.  The famous dry English wit was then in full display – the “Gore Effect” (wherein if one wants cold weather, one simply books a speech by The Al) took England by storm...

Cold Weather in Jamul...

Okay, now all of you who think that a Californian's ideas about what constitutes “cold weather” is funny, just go ahead and start laughing.  Done yet?  Just remember, when you're freezing your sorry butt off, we're warm and sunny...

Friday night was our coldest of the season so far.  It was below freezing for 9 hours, and got down to 27°F (-3°C).  That provoked all sorts of phenomena that we seldom see here.  For example, ice formations in our hummingbird feeders – and very annoyed-looking hummingbirds who kept poking their beaks through the feeder's holes, but got no satisfaction in return.  A group of them hollered at me when I brought my camera out to capture this (for us) unusual sight.

Then I wandered over to our icy patio (practically breaking my neck in the process, slipping on the ice-covered sidewalk).  There I spotted our ash bucket, full of water, and solidly frozen over.  I couldn't break the ice with my hand, but with the heel of my boot I managed to break a bit out.  The ice was about a half inch (one cm) thick – something I've never seen here before.

I think Al Gore must be in town, celebrating the sale of his loser network to Al Jazeera.  If you ever wanted evidence that there is no fairness in the world, you needn't look any further than Al Gore...

Al Gore's Science: Fake!

Come on, now, admit it.  You're not really all that surprised by this, are you?
