U.S. Population Map...

Now this is just awesome: an interactive, zoomable map of the U.S. with a dot for every person recorded by the 2010 census.  The map has no other features to clutter the view; it shows population and nothing else.

This is a great tool for me as I look for a place for us to live!

Japatul Lane...

An anonymous commenter yesterday asked if I would “be willing to divulge the location of Japatul Lane”.  Well, certainly!  But it's no secret – even Google Maps knows where it is. The flat-bottomed valley just to the east (right) of the two ponds is where we reliably spot the deer:

Wind Map of the U.S...

A beautiful animated map rendering of winds in the U.S.  I had to try a few times to successfully load the site; I suspect their servers are being overwhelmed...

The New York Times has a fascinating map of the U.S. (view of a small section at right), showing county-by-county the percentage of people taking government assistance (of any kind).  There were lots of surprises on here for me...

Interesting “heat map” color-coding the entire world based on how many photos are taken and posted on Google Maps.  There are some big surprises for me in here.  Like any other Google map, you can pan and zoom all you want...
