Jahar...

This is our little Savannah cat, only he's not so little any more.  At just over a year old, he's about the same size and weight as the larger of other cats.  He hasn't lost any of his behaviors; I play with him daily with a toy “bird” that he loves to chase, making spectacular leaps as high as four feet or so...

Jahar, Just Hangin' Around...

Jahar (aka SnickleFritz) is the most recent addition to our menagerie.  He's a little Savannah kitten, just a few months old.  He's currently in the process of being introduced to the rest of our animals, by spending a few hours each day in a smallish cage in a room that our other cats and dogs have access to.  The rest of the time, Jahar lives in our bedroom with the door shut.  That's where I took this video, with a calm Jahar just looking for a little attention and affection.  He's an entirely different beastie when he's “hunting” or playing (pretty much the same thing!).  Jahar:

Anniversary Gift...

The little fellow at right – not yet named – is a Savannah Cat.  Debbie picked him out of a litter yesterday afternoon.  He's not quite old enough yet to come home with us, but in about ten days he will be.

Savannahs are a cross between a serval and a domestic cat (i.e., an ordinary house cat), and has some characteristics of both.  This little guy is an F4B, and will grow up to weigh up to 20 pounds.

Debbie seems quite excited about her anniversary gift!
