Deerhorn Valley Update...

Here's the view this evening looking east from Lyons Peak. There are still hotspots burning on the west flank of Elena Mountain, nearly down to where Honey Springs Road crosses from left to right across the photo. I didn't realize these fires were still burning; there's been little smoke from this area all day long. The flanks of Elena Mountain are not very accessible, but some of those hotspots are down near homes. I'm sure there are firefighters on them; we hope for their success this evening...

  1. Hello, is there any way to use coordinates on the photos to help tell if homes have burned?

  3. I am in Arizona but I am former Deerhorn Valley resident. I am desperate to find out any information regarding the fire's progress on Lyons Peak. Our dearest friend Jack Saddler stayed behind at the Circle J Ranch on Bratton Valley Rd and we do not know if he made it out safely. Also if you have any word on houses on White Wing Dr., our former neighborhood, please let us know. I used to serve in the Volunteer Fire Dept. Auxiliary in Deerhorn, any word on my old neighbors and friend will be greatly appreciate it. Thanks and God Bless

  4. I can't give you any really accurate information about either Bratton Valley Road or White Wing Drive. I saw fires (from the Lyons Peak cameras) in the general area near White Wing Drive, but I have also heard news reports that "most" homes in central Deerhorn Valley were saved. Bratton Valley Road is partway up Lyons Peak, and not directly in sight of the cameras. I'm optimistic that that area is unscathed, just knowing the course of the fire, but again, I can't be sure.

Good luck to you and your friends...
