If you're old enough...

If you're old enough ... then you'll remember that not so very long ago the biggest problems facing humanity in most of the world were starvation and disease.  Now a big problem everywhere is ... obesity.  I'm 62, and almost every day I read or see something that reminds me just how much the world has changed within my lifetime...

This really was one of the great comic strips. I'm glad that at least some of the archive remains. This one just reminds me that if it isn't the war on drugs, the war on poverty, global ice age/warming/climate change, there will be something else to assert control and to distract our attention from the fact that government is incapable of doing the things they are constitutionally mandated to do, and therefore they turn their focus to other things so they can pretend to be doing something important. Slapping each other on the back in the halls of congress and puffing themselves up on TV. Convincing themselves that somehow attending hearings and pontificating is actually helpful.
