Learning...

Learning...  I'm living now in a two story home with a finished basement, so effectively three stories.  For about the last 35 years, I've lived exclusively in single story homes.

I've been surprised here by the temperature differences between the floors – the basement is noticeably cooler than the first floor, and the first floor is noticeably cooler than the second floor.  I understand the physics involved (warm air is less dense, and rises in the house), but still I've been surprised by the magnitude of it.

I've discovered that running the heaters' fans without the heater being on helps even the temperature out (though still not perfectly), but at the cost of the noise in the background. But since Debbie and I prefer different temperatures in the house, it occurs to me that these temperature differences might actually be a good thing :)
