My country is being run by a cabal of fools. Our national credibility is on a par with that of Iran. Our chief executive issues blustering communiques that are never followed up on, and which no foreign actor believes – and does so repeatedly. This most recent one – which Putin quite understandably simply ignored – contained no direct consequence at all, just a vague warning that there “would be costs.” Today we find out that the first such costs are: (1) boycotting a planned summit meeting, and (2) a strongly worded letter. Can't you just feel Putin quaking in his boots?
