I don't want to believe that any public official could be that stupid – but this story is multiply-sourced and appears to be completely accurate. This does not bode well for my country's future...
Yes, they can and are that stupid. Or maybe they are all just afraid and prefer to hide behind "policies" as if "Policy" equals law.
ReplyDeleteOh, and just for fun, the City of LA not only has ridiculously high tax rates to fund 90% pensions for its fire fighters etc., but now, your taxes apparently don't pay for the use of them, I guess that is just to keep them on stand-by... now if you actually have to use them, its an extra $1000 charge for them to show up. Think about that one a bit. Stupid? No, evil? yes.
