The Therapy Dog...

Lea is our oldest dog; she's a field spaniel, about 13 years old.  She's still in good health, but creaking a bit, and her sight and hearing aren't what they used to be.  She spends a lot of her days curled up in a dog bed.

I just spent about five minutes down on the floor, next to her on one of those beds.  She kissed me, grunted, and made happy faces while I held and caressed her.

Best five minutes I've had in a while...

  1. I think the number one thing I miss about having a dog is seeing how excited he got when I came home, no matter how long I had been gone.

But a close second is just sitting with him on the ground. Didn't matter whether he was eating or playing or just laying next to me. It was always comforting being down on his level with him.
