Light Blogging...

No worries, folks – just some obligations at work that are eating my time up. I ended up working straight through the weekend, and didn't get out to the desert as originally planned. I'll be back in a jiffy!

  1. Hi Tom and Debbie,
Just wanted to let you know that if you do not have time to make it out to the desert I hope you can take the time soon to go out to Hollenbeck Canyon (where Hwy 94 and Honey Spring Road intersect). Although this was a burn area God has planted his flower beds and they are spectacular! If you have never hiked at Hollenbeck let me suggest that after going through the horse gate head out on the trail to the East Northeast; after crossing through the water take the trail to the right. You will see that the grasses have come back abundantly and then next you will began to see the fine natural bouquet of many different varieties of wildflowers! (Please take pictures then identify them for me!)
When you get to the old brick remains stay to the left but actually after climbing up past there on a narrow trail the majority of the flower show is over. If you were to continue make a loop you would stay to the left at most intersections and when you get to the flat in the meadows look for a break in the barbed wire fence where there is a downed tree and follow that trail to the left. This will bring you out along the formerly planted fields of the Daley Ranch. This area is a sea in wild oats with a sprinkle of wild radish that gives it a shimmering appearance from a distance.
    Cheers,
    Linda
